Janae De Gannes was on fire at the Kirani James Stadium, in Grenada, yesterday, grabbing Carifta Games girls’ Under-20 long jump gold with a championship record leap.

And just before press time, last night, De Gannes received the Austin Sealy Award for the most outstanding performance at the Games.

De Gannes disturbed the sand at a personal best 6.50 metres to secure Trinidad and Tobago’s first individual title at the 2024 edition of the regional junior championships. The big 6.50 leap was produced in the opening round.
