Trinidad and Tobago has once again secured its place on the global winter sport stage following the official ratification which took place earlier today by the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee (TTOC) of TeamTTO’s Bobsleigh and Alpine Ski Teams for participation in the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games, scheduled to take place in Italy from 6–22 February 2026.

This confirmation marks a proud moment for Trinidad and Tobago sport, highlighting the nation’s continued progress in winter sport development and international representation. For the Bobsleigh Team, qualification represents their second appearance at the Olympic Winter Games, having previously competed at Beijing 2022.

The bobsleigh contingent, currently based overseas, will be piloted by Axel Brown, who returns to the Olympic stage after representing Trinidad and Tobago in Beijing 2022. He will be joined by Shakeel John, De Aundre John, Xaverri Williams, and Micah Moore, forming a strong and competitive squad prepared to challenge the world’s best in both the 2-man and 4-man events.

The qualification also represents a historic milestone for Trinidad and Tobago, as the nation’s Alpine Ski Team will make its Olympic debut at Milano Cortina 2026. Athletes Emma Gatcliffe and Nikhil Alleyne, both based overseas, will compete in Giant Slalom and Slalom, marking a significant expansion of Trinidad and Tobago’s footprint in winter sport and reflecting years of athlete dedication and strategic development.

The Trinidad and Tobago delegation will be led by Chef de Mission Lovie Santana-Duke, TTOC’s Project Lead – Games Management & Education, supported by medical personnel and coaches to ensure that the team is well equipped leading up to and during the Games.

Team TTO will proudly carry our national colours to Milano Cortina, representing not only sporting excellence but the spirit, determination, and ambition of Trinidad and Tobago on the Olympic stage.

TTOC President Diane Henderson added:

“This achievement is a powerful reminder that Trinidad and Tobago athletes continue to push boundaries and redefine what is possible. The return of our bobsleigh team to the Winter Olympic Games and the historic debut of our alpine team reflect the resilience, ambition, and courage of our athletes. We are incredibly proud of their journey and look forward to supporting them as they represent our nation on the world stage.”

Commenting on the team’s qualification, Chef de Mission Lovie Santana-Duke also stated:

“The qualification of Team Trinidad and Tobago for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games is a moment of immense pride for our nation. Securing places in both alpine skiing and bobsleigh including qualification for the 2-man and 4-man bobsleigh events reflects years of dedication, resilience, and strategic development by our athletes, coaches, and support teams.

For a small Caribbean nation to compete on the world’s biggest winter sport stage is both significant and inspiring. It demonstrates that with vision, commitment, and belief, our athletes can break traditional boundaries and compete alongside the world’s best, regardless of geography or climate”.

Following the official ratification by the TTOC, preparations continue to be underway to ensure both teams receive the necessary technical, medical, and administrative support as they finalise training and competition plans ahead of the Games.

The TTOC extends heartfelt congratulations to Axel Brown, Shakeel John, De Aundre John, Xaverri Williams, Micah Moore, Emma Gatcliffe, and Nikhil Alleyne, along with their coaches and support personnel, whose dedication has made this historic qualification possible. As TeamTTO prepares to compete once again at the Olympic Winter Games, Trinidad and Tobago stands united in pride and support.
